In the world we are living in we have been brought to this constant state of yang energy. Chinese Medicine theory is based on this balance of Yin and Yang belief. The principle of Yin and Yang is that all things exist as inseparable and are opposites, for example, female is yin and male is yang, dark is yin and light is yang and old verse young. The two opposites of Yin and Yang attract and complement each other to create harmony within the body.
Yang is this go go go mode it. Most of us are constantly pushing ourselves to do more. Whether it’s pushing our careers ahead, marriage/dating, having babies/not having babies, and pretty much just life in general and can get to be exhausting. We don't even realize how over stressed, worked and tired we actually are. This state is it putting a lot of stress and pressure on our nervous system. This in turn depletes our nervous system's state of calmness. We then need to reboot the parasympathetic nervous system which is the ruler of rest, digest, and heal - which I like to call the fountain of youth (and let's be honest who doesn't want to have youthful traits forever??). When your body is lacking balance within the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems your immune system begins to deplete and symptoms like hormonal imbalances (ladies, I cannot stress this enough!), catching colds and flus, fatigue, headaches, body pain, anxiety and other mental issues all become more prevalent and you become more prone to disease. This is caused by our overly busy lives and the sympathetic nervous system being in a constant Yang state, it cannot keep up. In this state of unbalance we need to rejuvinate, calm and relax our fight or flight state of forceful yang energy and slow it down to our parasympathetic state which is Yin energy. We need to relax and let our bodies release any and all tensed up bodily sensations, letting go and surrendering to your bodies needs. Acupuncture is very effective in relaxing the central nervous system. Through treatment you are giving your body the time to heal the nerve pathway and bring it back up to balance. Maintain your body, don't wait until something is wrong!
